Aicha Oukaid, Secretariat and Administration
With Applica since 1996, Aicha is responsible for managing Applica's office and for undertaking secretarial work. A bilingual French and Arabic native speaker, she is also fluent in English.

Nirina Rabemiafara, Economic analyst
Nirina has almost seven years of experience in data processing and statistical comparative analysis at the European level. Since January 2007, she has been managing a project for DG Employment on the collection and analysis of statistics on people with disabilities across the EU. She was responsible for the coordination of the French translation of the last two Cohesion Reports published by DG Regional Policy, and for translating the independent review The State of Working Europe (J. Morley, T. Ward and A. Watt) into French. A native French and Malagasy-speaker, she is fluent in English and Spanish.

John Morley, Senior policy advisor
John Morley spent 30 years with the European Commission as Head of Employment Policy and as Adviser/Speech writer to Director Generals and Commissioners for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. Since 2003, he is a Senior policy adviser with Applica as well as being a special Professor at Nottingham University Business School. He is a frequent speaker at European and UK events on economic, employment and social issues. Prior to working with the European Commission, he was an economic adviser in the UK Civil Service, an editor of Business management magazine and a University Lecturer in Economics.

Fadila Sanoussi, Data analyst
Fadila joined Applica in 2006 as a data analyst. Her interests are data management and statistical analysis of national and regional data of the EU countries. She is fluent in French, English and Arabic.

Lydia Greunz, Senior economic analyst
Lydia is a senior researcher. She has a PhD in Economics and a teaching experience as an associate professor at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). Her research interests are in regional development with a special focus on the role of innovation, knowledge spillovers and externalities. She is fluent in German, French and English.

Nicole Fondeville, Economic analyst
Nicole is a researcher specialized on employment issues. Before joining Applica in 2007, she has worked in DG Employment of the European Commission and she has been a research assistant at the University of Bordeaux (France). She published several papers in French Economic journals. She is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Liesbeth Haagdorens, Project assistant
Liesbeth has joined Applica in May 2007. She assists in the provision of information and drafting of documentation for a number of projects as well as in project-related administrative and financial activities. Because of her excellent language skills (she holds a PhD in German literature) she also contributes to translation activities from English into German. She speaks Dutch as mother tongue, and is fluent in German and English, with working knowledge of French.

Erhan Ozdemir, Statistician/Analyst
Erhan is a demographer and researcher specialising in migration, population and development issues. Before joining Applica in November 2008, he has been involved in national and regional qualitative and quantitative research and surveys in Turkey on demography, health and socio-economic development. He is currently a PhD candidate in Hacettepe University, Institute of Population Studies (Ankara, Turkey). He is fluent in Turkish and English.

Sara Botti, Economic analyst
Sara has joined Applica in January 2009. She holds a Master’s degree in Local development (University of Parma, Italy). She speaks Italian as mother tongue and is fluent in Spanish and English, with a basic knowledge of French.

Gisèle Uwayezu, assistant-accountant
Gisèle Uwayezu joined Applica in January 2010 as a versatile assistant-accountant, also involved in the organisation and administration of events. A French and Rwandan native speaker, she is fluent in English and Dutch.
